On the 17th of January 2018 the Lit & Phil are hosting a schools workshop based around the Imagining the Sun project: a collaboration of a poet, a sound artist and a visual artist with Northumbria University’s solar physics research group, supported by outreach specialists.
During this event students will learn about the Sun from one of Northumbria University’s solar physicists, exploring its awesome scale and the range of light it produces. The science will then be followed by the poetry. Award-winning poet Katrina Porteous will read some of her work and encourage participants to express their new-found knowledge through poetry.
This event is exclusively for school groups, and targeted at year 9/10 students keen in science and english. Schools groups are limited to 10 students each.
