Organised by The Great North Maths Hub in collaboration with the Advanced Maths Support Programme.
Raising girls’ participation in Maths has been on the agenda for quite some time, with much focus on Secondary and Post-16 providers. In the North East there is even more of a discrepancy than across the rest of the country.
The aims of this conference therefore is to increase awareness of the issues and potential ways of implementing successful interventions and provide a starting point to delegates, should they so wish, to participate in working groups set up by the hubs to continue strategic work and thinking in addressing this problem.
GNMH, AMSP and the Archimedes hub will also be setting up a workgroup to address this topic, and the conference is a first step for this. It is hoped that the workgroup will contain representatives from primary and secondary schools.
