Engineering is the application of science and maths to build the structures and systems that shape our world
In partnership with the Royal Institution, Think Physics and the Faculty of Engineering and Environment at Northumbria University are hosting Engineering Masterclasses for Year 8 students.
Taking place over six Saturday mornings from 30th January 2016, the sessions will cover a wide range of engineering disciplines and skills. Previous series have encompassed mechanical, electronic, civil, architectural and software engineering, and participants have described the sessions as:
“Exciting,” “different,” “helpful,” “funny,” “great staff,” and “Not enough I need more!”
(We think that last one’s a good thing!)
The sessions will also explore the qualifications and career opportunities you could expect if you took an engineering path – what sorts of jobs are available, and how would you get there? There’ll also be plenty of practical activity.
If this sounds right up your street, drop us a line via the form below. We’ll ask for the name of a teacher, who we’ll contact to formally nominate you for the masterclasses. While we’d love to book hundreds of people into the course, in practice spaces are strictly limited to make sure you have an awesome experience.
Eligibility: Year 8 students
Closing date for applications: January 8th 2016
Please note: Acceptance is to the full course of six sessions
Sorry, applications to the Masterclass series are now closed. There'll be more opportunities soon!
