Mastering physics by solving problems: a Department for Education project at the University of Cambridge, delivering nationally (including in the North-East!).

Ogden Isaac Programme 2018 – Newcastle

In addition to the workshops listed below, Isaac Physics are taking applications for five-week sessions running between March and June 2018. There are two groups planned, for Year 10 and Year 12 students respectively. As with all their projects, they’re aimed at developing mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills, often in a physics context; these longer courses are even more in-depth than the regular workshops, with weekly assignments, online support, and regular face-to-face sessions through the programme.

Taster sessions are being held on 24th Feb 2018. Teachers: you can also book an introductory session in your school.

For more details, to book a taster session, or to apply for the programme: see the Isaac Physics website.

This programme isn’t run by NUSTEM, but we think you might like it!

This free workshop aims to make explicit the mathematical nature of physics, as well as developing each student’s confidence and problem solving skills. Students will tackle a range of problems that require the application of calculus, demonstrating the importance of mathematics within physics, and giving students a taster of the style of problems they will meet in physics courses at university. Audience A2 students who are aiming to achieve A* to B grades in both physics and maths at A…
