Poetry and Science
Today is National Poetry Day, and across the land people have been posting poems.
At Think Physics, we’re doing our bit for poetry too, though our Imagining the Sun project.
‘Imagining the Sun’ brings together the Northumbria University Solar Physics group and a number of artists. Together, they’ve been exploring our knowledge and understanding of the Sun through visual art, poetry and music.
Our artists are Katrina Porteous (poet), Helen Schell (Visual artist ) and Peter Zinovief (composer).
Helen’s work has already been on display at Big Bang North East, and will be shown later next year at Words by the Water.
Katrina and Peter have been working together to create a words and music performance inspired by the Sun and Sunquakes. Their work will have a world premiere on 18th November at Friday Night Life at the Centre for Life (adults only).
We’ve had a sneak preview of one or two of Katrina’s poems, and think that this will be a fantastic, thought provoking evening.
Hope to see you there!
Imagining the Sun is funded by STFC, Think Physics and Northumbria University.
