Who Are They?
Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd is opening up a brand new factory in Newton Aycliffe, Tyne and Wear. The site will manufacture over 900 rail carriages for high-speed, commuter and metro trains. They’ll be used in the North East, across the UK, and hopefully internationally too. The factory will also have its own research, development and test facilities, including a test track.
When fully open, the plant will employ over 700 people, including apprentices.
