STEM Careers Game
Boosting your students’ knowledge of STEM attributes and careers
Our STEM careers game has been designed to prompt your students to think about STEM attributes, STEM careers and why science lessons matters. The workshop has been designed to fit a science lesson.
Further information about this workshop, including links to our STEM attributes page and additional STEM careers resources can be found below.
Supporting young people to foster 15 attributes identified by STEM professionals as useful in their jobs and showcasing different STEM careers routes, can help young people to recognise their potential to become the STEM professionals of the future.
With this in mind we have designed a workshop where we bring together not only STEM attributes and STEM careers, but also links with the science curriculum.
The first half of the workshop encourages students to explore their own STEM attributes, by taking a simple quiz (as seen on the right). Students are also asked to think about their future careers and how these attributes might be helpful.
In the second half of the workshop students play the STEM careers card game, where they need to match a STEM career cards to clue cards. Clue cards have different categories (and points) including:
You can find an example of these cards below … can you guess which career they relate with?
The 15 STEM careers used in this workshop were carefully chosen to reflect a wide range of sectors and routes (academic, technical, apprenticeship). In the table below you can see how these careers fit with topics in the science curriculum.
