Hello Barley Mow, we’re NUSTEM. We’re based at Northumbria University, and we work across the region supporting children, families and teachers in exploring science, technology, engineering and maths. We’re particularly keen to help people recognise that careers in these STEM subjects are available to them.
On this page you’ll find a summary of the things we’ve done with your school, and links to follow-up activities you can do at home.
Today Nursery and Reception have been lighting engineers, investigating light and shadows. We also had a family workshop after school where we made shadow tubes. To make your own shadow tubes go to our STEM at home page.
Today children in Reception and Nursery became marine engineers and investigated floating and sinking. To try a simple floating and sinking activity at home, using only tin foil and coins, visit our NUSTEM at home Foil Boats page.
