Morpeth Road Academy

Hello Morpeth Road, we’re NUSTEM. We’re based at Northumbria University, and we work across the region supporting children, families and teachers in exploring science, technology, engineering and maths. We’re particularly keen to help people recognise that careers in these STEM subjects are available to them.

Monday 24th February 2020 Year 5 Underneath the Ice Session One

Today Year 5 became Antarctic explorers and found out what it would be like to visit the Princess Elizabeth Research Station at the South Pole. They found out how scientists use the secrets trapped inside ice cores to tell them what happened in the past and to predict what will happen in the future. Year 5 also read and analysed a poem written especially for this workshop by poet Katrina Porteus and discovered how we can use poetry to communicate scientific facts. Click here to find out more.

30th April 2019 Reception Family Space Explorers

This morning Reception children and their families took a trip to Mars with Little E the robot rover from the book “Are we nearly there yet?”. When they got there they designed the Mars landscape and built Mars rover vehicles to explore this new world.
