Friday 24th June STEM Fair @ New York
Today NUSTEM were at the school STEM fair, making marble runs and seed packets from recycled materials.
The seeds are to grow wildflowers, which attract bees, butterflies and other important pollinators to our gardens and open spaces.
To plant the seeds, you just need to find some soil (this could be in your garden, in a park or field or by the side of a road) tear open the corner of your packet, sprinkle the seeds then rake over or cover with a thin layer of soil.
Pollinators are important as they carry pollen from flower to flower, making sure plants can produce fruit and seeds. This provides us with food!
To discover how another common creature, the earthworm, helps us in our gardens, fields and farms, you could visit our Make a wormery STEM at home page.

Years 1,2, 4 and 5 have been using marble runs this week. Year 1 and 2 became systems engineers and investigated how to put difference pieces together to become a single marble run. Years 4 and 5 used the same equipment to become mechanical engineers and investigated how to use their knowledge of forces to solve a problem. Visit our
This week children in Reception and Nursery have become marine engineers and investigated floating and sinking. To try a simple floating and sinking activity at home, using only tin foil and coins, visit our
