Walbottle Village Primary School

Hello Walbottle Village, we’re NUSTEM. We’re based at Northumbria University, and we work across the region supporting children, families and teachers in exploring science, technology, engineering and maths. We’re particularly keen to help people recognise that careers in these STEM subjects are available to them.

3rd June 2019 Y5 Environmental Planners and Key Stage 2 Family Workshop

Year 5 became environmental planners and used maps to discover how finding out about the past can help us to predict the future. To find out more about environmental planners, click here. After school, Key Stage 2 families became aerospace engineers and built, tested, modified and improved catapults. Click here for more information and activities to try at home.

19th March 2019 Year 3 Palaeontologists and Key Stage 1 Family Workshop

Today Year 3 found out about the methods that palaeontologists use to look at the past, and discovered how this helps them to predict the future. Click here to find out more about what palaeontologists do and for more activities you can try at home.

After school, Key Stage 1 families became systems engineers, designing, creating. testing and improving marble runs to see how long they could get the marble to roll for. To find out more about systems engineering and to discover some fun activities to try at home, click here.

7th February 2019 Year 1 Naval Architects
