Micro:Bit — leds

There are several ways of controlling the LEDs on the front of your micro:bit. You’ll find this block under ‘Basic’.

Drop it into an event block (on start, forever, on button pressed, etc.) and design your pattern.

Challenges

• Can you work out how to clear the screen, so nothing’s displaying?
• How about animating between two images? A beating heart, maybe?

Good to know

• Your micro:bit pauses slightly every time you ask it to display something this way.
• You can also set the overall brightness, show images (very low-resolution!), and set your own images.
• How about scrolling text across the screen? Easy: show string.
• Just want to show a number? show number.
• You’ll find most of these blocks under the Basic tab.
